All Sorts Of Vegan Deliciousness at V Rev MCR

Manchester had some glorious weather last weekend and I took full advantage. I wear dresses and skirts a lot, I was delighted to hear I wouldn’t need to wear tights for once. A whole 18 degrees may I add!

Disclaimer here: I’m not a vegan.

For the Vegan and Vegetarian friends in your life, V Rev Diner is a pretty amazing hideaway in the Northern Quarter that quite frankly, does the best authentic vegan burgers up here. It’s so amazing to see more food options opening up for different diets and lifestyles. I’d heard amazing things from the vegans in my life so I went to try. Plus I had a basically vegan friend with me so, prime opportunity.

V Rev Diner is hiding away on Edge Street in the Northern Quarter. For anybody outside of Manchester or new to it, it’s 5 minutes from the Arndale, so not far away at all.

manchester, food blogger, food review, vegetarian, vegan, cocktails, foodies,We headed to V Rev’s on a Saturday for lunch, with neither of us having tried it, we were curious and skeptical. The restaurant is quite small and we had to wait for 30 minutes, but you just give them your number and they’ll give you an estimated time so you can still have a little wander. There are plenty of little bars, cafes and restaurants in that area so it’s completely fine. We headed to Ziferblat across the street, which as a cafe is a concept too complicated to explain in this post.

Let’s get to the food from V Rev’s…

We first got some cocktails, which were super nice and they were reasonably priced. I would totally recommend to try a few while you wait. Here’s what they are actually made from if you’re wondering (according to their website):

We hand-form our beefy patties in-house out of seitan (or a gluten free alternative) and soy.  Our homemade fried chkn seitan is triple dipped in buttermalk, breaded and deep fried.  And yes, absolutely everything on the menu is 100% vegan!

We had a waiter that was super helpful in helping us decide. From his personal favourites to me bluntly asking how ‘instagrammable’ the menu is, I found the staff to be really helpful if you’ve never been before and are a terrible meat-eater like me. I chose the Buffalo the Vampire Slayer burger, from the ‘chicken’ side of the menu. It is flavoured similarly to chicken, however I feel you can never really compare the two. Meat is meat and seitan, well, isn’t. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just a different experience. I also chose the pizza fries, which are essentially a ‘cheese’* and tomato-ey base fries.

You can see my burger in the featured image.

I fell in love with my burger. Buffalo the Vampire Slayer was a great choice if you’re a fan of messy burgers. It comes with ‘Fried chkn, baecon, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, lettuce, tomato’.

My friend bought the Guac To The Future burger with the chili cheez’ fries. You can see that below. We both thoroughly enjoyed.

If you’re looking for a fully vegetarian or vegan restaurant in Manchester, V Rev’s is a great place to go whether you’re a meat eater or not. It’s in a cool area of Manchester in the centre and is something quite different to anything I’ve tried.

You can find their menu here.

Do you have any veggie or vegan-friendly places to recommend?
