The BEST Grilled Cheese joint in Manchester

Eating healthier for 2016? Look away now, as I’ve found the best artery-clogging grilled cheese joint in Manchester. I love a good grilled cheese or cheese toasties (whichever you prefer), Northern Soul combines some of the best ingredients to give a pretty spectacular grilled cheese experience (trust me, experience is the right word here). If you’re in Manchester for lunchtime and want to try one of the local food stops, this greasy phenomenon is one to look out for.

Manchester has a lot of hidden food gems. Often on the beaten track, or to put it more bluntly, in the ‘quarters’ of Manchester. This one is based in the Northern Quarter: an area of Manchester that’s becoming notably famed for its checked shirts and beards combination in half of its residents. It’s the slightly more ‘hipster’ area, but it’s always a classic because it’s so close to Piccadilly and the centre (near the shops) so it makes for quite a good stop.

Now onto the important bit: the food. Grilled cheese is obviously the main attraction here. I went for the Mac Attack¬†Grilled Cheese. A grilled cheesed filled also with Mac n Cheese. Yes, you heard me right. It’s the best of both worlds and it was beautiful fyi. All their grilled cheeses are based on their ‘The Soul’ grilled cheese, which combines three cheeses on a sourdough bread. The bread is thick and aint that flimsy Warburtons, these toasties are the real deal.

You can also get a choice of toppings such as BBQ pulled pork. Their specials change every week and you can also accompany your grilled cheese with a milkshake or a selection of treats (desserts). The only downside I can see is that they aren’t the cheapest grilled cheeses around, but honestly it’s worth it. You get a big slice and you’ll stay full for a pretty long amount of time.

Northern Soul is nestled opposite the Arndale in the Church Street Market. To give you an idea of how close it is, I’ve attached a map (because I’m just that nice). Whilst they don’t have a website, they do have a Trip Advisor, so you can see other reviews for yourself. As well as their Twitter account, which they update regularly!

If you’re looking for cake or a good book after, I’d recommend Chapter One Books
