Hosted by Echo PR and based in Old Granada Studios, The Avenue Fashion Show was a fun night out showcasing luxury brands (by flannels.com), such as YSL & Alexander McQueen. Also one of the most fancy events I’ve been to so far this year – in which ironically I didn’t feel fancy, as I got drenched with the famous Manchester drizzle beforehand (Woe be I). But anyhow, fun night, made some interesting acquaintances and really motivated me to be the most badass PR in the world (official title, am I right?).
Beginning at 6pm, we arrived ‘fashionably’ late – at least that’s what I called it. There was a host at the entrance of the studios, random models, with a free bar (till the drinks ran out). Self-consciousness aside, I did that thing called networking. I actually love meeting new people – I find it exhilarating because you never know what opportunities will spring up or the people you’ll meet. Hey, I even made a friend. Cool right?
At the beginning, I perused a bit of Flannels clothes on their clothes rail. As a recent graduate, with a fantastic debt to pay off, it felt a bit ironic that I do PR for a luxury clothing company and can’t currently afford it. (ONE DAY!) Aside from that, it was definitely something to aspire to. I chatted with a couple of people from a few different PR companies and also some designers. I really enjoy networking – which is ironic, as I had issues with social-anxiety a few years ago. But THANK GOD that has finished.
The people were friendly, I could talk to anyone practically and the event itself whilst dressed up, still had pretty down to earth people. I also think it’s really cool the way that Old Granada Studios has been reinvented as an event space in Manchester.
Thanks to Echo PR for inviting me and the Whistle Blower team!
