The answer is probably no. Whilst this season of GBBO has not been my favourite season of all time, I’m beginning to realise just why I love it so much. So here, in a nutshell, are 7 reasons why I love the Great British Bake Off.
Everybody loves everybody on GBBO. There’s no unnecessary scrapping between contestants and whilst obviously it gets more competitive, nobody is unnecessarily rude. How very British really.
Every contestant is completely different to each other. There are contestants of various races, sexes, backgrounds, cultures, traditions and I absolutely love it. It characterises, for me, what being British is about.
One of the most obvious things about the Great British Bake Off – The dirty jokes. There are so many and they’ve really taken advantage of it this season. Plus I don’t know about you, but there’s something weirdly sexual about how Selasi pipes anything.
Okay, bit of a geeky one for me here. I love Twitter when #GBBO is on. It’s honestly one of my favourite parts of the show in a way, as I realise that having a huge crush on Selasi is entirely normal, according to Twitter. Seriously, who doesn’t have a crush on Selasi yet?
Another geeky one, but the illustrations of the cakes/biscuits/desserts when the contestants are describing them are lovely. There’s something really homely about them which I really like.
Okay admittedly, I don’t love Mel and Sue. But what I do love about them is how supportive they are of the contestants. I recently read how they actually come up with ways to stop the cameras rolling, if the contestants are super stressed and it’s so cute.
All in all, the Great British Bake Off is a national treasure that we don’t want to lose. I mean the whole country went into uproar when we heard that Mary Berry’s leaving. We all bloody love it and don’t want it to change.
